The use of anabolic steroids is banned by all major sports federations, including the International Olympic Committee, Major League Baseball, National Football League, National Basketball Association, National Hockey League, WWE, ICC, ITF, FIFA, World Rugby, FINA, UEFA, European Athletics Association and Brazilian Football Confederation. Anabolic steroids are controlled substances in many countries, including Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, the Netherlands (NL), the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (USA). Doctors may prescribe steroids to patients for legitimate medical purposes such as loss of testicular function, breast cancer, low red blood cell count, delayed puberty, and impaired conditions due to surgery or disease. Veterinarians administer steroids to animals (e.g. cattle, dogs and horses) for legitimate purposes, such as: to promote feed efficiency and improve weight gain, vitality and coat. They are also used in veterinary practice to treat anemia and counteract tissue breakdown during illness and trauma. There are several sources for illegal use; The most common illegal source is the smuggling of steroids into the United States from other countries such as Mexico and European countries. Smuggling out of these areas is easier because no prescription is needed to purchase steroids. Less commonly, steroids found on the illicit market are derived from legitimate sources (such as theft or inappropriate prescriptions) or manufactured in secret laboratories. Its consumption, use and sale are considered illegal in most countries of the world and, in some parts of the country, they are on the list of controlled substances. The Olympics, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, and the National Football League also prohibit the use of anabolic steroids. The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) maintains the list of performance-enhancing substances used by many major sports federations and includes all anabolic agents, including all anabolic steroids and precursors, as well as all hormones and related substances.
Spain has adopted an anti-doping law establishing a National Anti-Doping Agency. Italy passed a law in 2000 that provides for penalties of up to three years in prison if an athlete tests positive for banned substances. In 2006, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the ratification of the International Convention against Doping in Sport, which aimed to promote cooperation with WADA. They are basically used to treat diseases of all kinds such as autoimmune diseases. Anabolic steroids are a group of hormones that contain the natural male sex hormone testosterone and a number of synthetic versions. Early scientific forays into the effects of testosterone included a Harvard professor injecting himself with a “rejuvenating elixer” in 1889 containing extract from dog and guinea pig testicles. It was not until the mid-1930s that human testosterone was “discovered” and synthesized (independently) by Adolf Butenandt and Leopold Ruzicka (independently of each other) until 1939. Both were awarded the Nobel Prize for their work. Today, these substances range from “soft” or legal substances like energy drinks to “hard” substances like steroids and amphetamines and other more “natural” methods, including blood doping, to increase the number of rich red blood cells in the blood. It is difficult to determine what percentage of the population used anabolic steroids because most studies are self-reported.
Studies in the United States have shown that anabolic steroid users are mostly middle-class heterosexual men with an average age of about 25 who are non-competitive bodybuilders and non-athletes. They cite the use of drugs for cosmetic purposes. Another study found that non-medical use of anabolic steroids among college students was equal to or less than 1%. According to a 2006 survey, 78.4% of steroid users were non-competitive bodybuilders and non-athletes. A 1988 study found that 6.6% of Grade 12 students (ages 17 or 18) use or have used steroids. Therefore, if you are prompted to send yourself to a screen, you should not use in any country.
